About Us

The Rogue Initiative is a technology-based entertainment studio where a story-driven Hollywood pedigree meets cutting edge immersive technology. Led by award-winning industry veterans including alumni from Amblin Entertainment, Pixar, Dreamworks Animation, Sony Pictures, Disney, and Infinity Ward, our team consists of creative executives and interactive media developers from Activision, Electronic Arts, New Regency, WEVR, Treyarch, Ready at Dawn, and Telltale Games.


Together, we produce and own original intellectual properties which are organically leveraged to virtual reality, games, feature film and television.



Pete Blumel

CEO and Creative Director
Already an established first-mover in VR, Blumel is an award-winning veteran producer of real-time, story-driven immersive entertainment with over 19 years of experience in feature film, animation and AAA interactive production.
He served in a key producer role at Activision’s Infinity Ward game development studio where he became intimately involved in the creation and production of the CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE series and GHOSTS video games for over 8 years. Prior, Blumel spent over 10 years at DREAMWORKS SKG where he held roles of increasing responsibility, first at Dreamworks Feature Animation and later at Amblin Entertainment.

Cathy Twigg

Chief Production Officer
Twigg began her career at MTV Films where she was responsible for discovering new talent and adding projects to the development slate. Over her industry tenure, Twigg has served at Dreamworks Television Animation, Sony Pictures Television, Bandeira Entertainment and Dreamworks Animation working on several live-action television series and notable projects including Toonsylvania, Invasion America, KUNG FU PANDA, MONSTERS VS ALIENS, HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, SHREK THE HALLS, MADAGASCAR, MADAGASCAR 2, PENGUINS OF MADAGASCAR, TIGERLAND, SLAP HER, SHE’S FRENCH and THE LOVE LETTER.
Using her well-rounded film, animation, television and worldwide product distribution experience, she has produced, directed and written several short films and web series and is currently developing the company’s IP for VR, interactive, feature and television projects.

Hrish Lotlikar

Chief Business Development Officer
Hrish brings a wealth of experience in startups, venture capital, investment banking and management consulting.  He is a founding Managing Partner of EastLabs, a leading seed stage venture capital fund based in Kyiv, Ukraine.  He was the Senior Business Developer/Global Evangelist at Toptal, backed by Andreessen Horowitz, providing elite software engineers to companies globally.
He was previously in venture capital at SpencerTrask Ventures in NYC, in investment banking/M&A at UBS Investment Bank and HSBC Securities and in global business development at the management consulting firm AonHewitt.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Rice University and a MPH/MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurship from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Michael Bay

Director/Producer Michael Bay is one of the entertainment industry’s most successful filmmakers, currently listed as the 4th highest grossing director of all time. The films that Bay has directed and produced via his two production companies have grossed more than $7.5 billion worldwide. His directing resume includes the films Bad Boys and Bad Boys 2, The Rock, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, The Island, Pain and Gain, and most recently 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi; as well as four films in the Transformers blockbuster franchise, all under the Bay Films banner. He is currently at work on the fifth installment of the series, Transformers: The Last Knight. Bay is also the founder and principal partner of Platinum Dunes, a production company whose films include include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows along with The Purge and Ouija franchises. They have also produced several successful television series, among them, TNT’s The Last Ship, Starz’s Black Sails, and Paramount’s upcoming Jack Ryan, set to star John Krasinski. A graduate of Wesleyan University and Art Center College of Design, Bay has won virtually every major award in the commercial industry, including the Cannes Lions Grand Prix for Best Commercial in the world for his “Got Milk?/Aaron Burr” spot, which has been established as one of the top ten classic commercials of all time. A Los Angeles native, Bay resides in Miami, Florida.

Lynda Obst

A veteran producer, Lynda Obst has worked at almost every major studio and produced more than 16 films. They include Interstellar, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Contact, Hope Floats, One Fine Day, The Siege, Sleepless in Seattle, The Fisher King, Adventures in Babysitting, and Flashdance, among others. In TV she is EP of Amazon’s Good Girls Revolt, Syfy’s Helix and TVLAND’s Hot In Cleveland.
Obst wrote the best-selling book, Hello He Lied: And Other Truths from the Hollywood Trenches, and then released her second book, Sleepless in Hollywood: Tales from the New Abnormal in the Movie Business. She also edited the Rolling Stone History of the 60’s and was as an editor at the New York Times Magazine. Obst is currently producing both film and television projects out of her office at Sony Pictures.

Cliff Plumer

Cliff is responsible for the development of content and production at Jaunt. Prior to joining Jaunt, Cliff was an angel investor and advisor to Oculus Rift, a Board of Director to Telltale Games, and a Producer of VR content for the launch of the Samsung GearVR. As CEO of Digital Domain, the company won an Academy Award for visual effects on the movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, in addition to receiving Technical Achievement awards from the Academy for innovation. At Digital Domain, Cliff established a studio in Vancouver and a Virtual Production Studio in Los Angeles. As CTO of Lucasfilm, Cliff directed the construction of the technical infrastructure of The Letterman Digital Arts Center in San Francisco, and the Lucasfilm Studio in Singapore. He worked closely with George Lucas on the development of the first Digital Cinema production for the Star Wars Trilogy. Cliff has worked on over 100 Hollywood feature films and television series. He began his career at NBC.

Matthew Cohan

Matthew Cohan has worked with Michael Bay since the inception of Bay Films in 1996. As President of one of Hollywood’s most cutting-edge film production companies, his credits include Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, Bad Boys IIThe Island, Pain & Gain, 13 Hours, and Hasbro and Paramount’s international blockbuster Transformers franchise. A graduate of Yale University and the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, he resides in his native Los Angeles with his wife, two children, and rescued Cattle Dog.

Paul Bragiel

Paul is a entrepreneur turned globe trotting investor. He has 3 startups under his belt and has subsequently started 5 funds across 4 continents, including being an early advisor to companies such as Uber and Unity. In his spare time he is currently advising the countries of Malaysia & Tanzania on their technology and entrepreneurship policies. Outside of work, he’s bicycled across the United States, canoed the entire Mississippi River and participated in the 2014 Olympic Trials as the founding member of the Colombian national x-country ski team.

Amitt Mahajan

Amitt is a curious technologist and entrepreneur based in the San Francisco Bay area. He was the founder/CTO of MyMiniLife (exited to Zynga) and the founder/CEO of Toro (exited to Google). While at Zynga he co-created the game FarmVille and was the CTO of Zynga Japan. Prior to his entrepreneurial work, Amitt was an engineer at Epic Games on the Unreal Engine and Gears of War. Amitt holds a bachelors degree in Computer Science from University of Illinois – Urbana / Champaign and was listed on the Forbes 30 under 30 in 2012.

Phil Chen

Phil is a technology explorer and global citizen. As head of HTC’s business and corporate development, Phil has led investments into KKBox (#1 music service in Asia), Soundhound, Magnet and the acquisition of Beats electronics. Most recently, Phil founded VR at HTC. Prior to HTC, Phil was VP of Product for the Alex eReader and founded Glo Bible. Before his corporate endeavors, Phil built schools and orphanages in Afghanistan, Africa, and China and worked as a research assistant at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. Phil holds a B.A and B.S in Pure Mathematics and Physics from UCSD, and an M.Div on Postmodern Philosophy from Fuller Seminary. His biggest return is from his role as father of Miles & Naomi.

Cody Simms

Cody has been operating at the intersection of technology and media since the late 1990s when his first employer Snap.com merged into NBC Internet. Cody is presently Managing Director for Techstars in Southern California where he leads the Disney Accelerator, a mentorship-driven seed stage investment program for technology-enabled media and entertainment startups. Previously, Cody was Chief Product Officer at StumbleUpon and prior to that served as Vice President of Product at Yahoo!. Earlier in his career, Cody worked in product management capacities at The New York Times, Sprint, and NBC Internet. He has developed courses and taught in an adjunct capacity at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.  He holds an MA in Transnational Communications and Global Media from Goldsmiths College, University of London, and is a Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Kansas with a BA in history and East Asian languages and a focus on Mandarin Chinese.

Ryan Wang

Ryan Wang is Co-founder and General Partner of Outpost Capital, the first Silicon Valley-based venture capital fund focusing on VR/AR/new frontier technology with a strong presence in China. Ryan is known as a VR/AR expert who oversees VR/AR companies in the US and greater China, with solid insights and strong connections in both markets.
Prior to Outpost, Ryan was a Venture Partner at CLI Ventures – a $200 million boutique VC fund based in Palo Alto. He led the TMT sector at CLI and had made a number of investments in VR/AR, Drones and Artificial Intelligence. Early in his career, Ryan has compiled a comprehensive and successful career as an investment banker at Citigroup and Societe Generale in New York City. Ryan is a snowboarder, world explorer and owner of many stylish hats.
